I was on the 4AC and 4Taxotere. I had pretty severe bone aches after the first round, about 3 to 4 days into it (it was 6 years ago now). They sent me down to the Oncology pharmacy to get a special mix of powdered glucosamine to add to water and drink for about 5 days around treatment, and also gave me a med for arthritis for 5 days around treatment. As long as I wasn't running a fever, I was able to also take regular extra strength tylenol, so the combination worked well for me.

The ice packs on the hands and feet during treatment really are beneficial. When I had my treatments we didn't know about it and I was left with lasting effects (I was on trial at the time). Since then the dosages and the ice have worked wonders. Some people have a better time with Taxotere than AC and others have it the other way around, so don't expect anything, but if you do have an effect, make sure to speak to your Oncologist to help you minimize them right away and for the next 3 treatments.

You're half way through! Hold ups due to counts, etc are not unusual, just a delay...so take care of you.

Hi there. I'm probably too late to discuss the side-effects for you dancemom, but just wanted to share with anyone new looking in on this chat that they should be aware that Taxotere can cause a severe shortness of breath. It starts out slow enough and doesn't seem too bad but gradually gets much worse to point that daily routines (walking up a few steps or talking) become difficult. If symptoms persist, be sure to talk to your doctor. Toxicity in the lungs can develop from the Taxotere and if left untreated it is quite serious(permanent scarring in lungs etc.). I am suffering the consequences after 3 treatments of taxotere. If anyone wants to discuss something similar happening to them, I would be more than happy to chat.
