Hello! My name is Jenn, and I'm writing an article for a national health magazine about "life after cancer."
The article will be focussed on the physical and psychological effects after treatment is done and cancer is stopped or in remission. I think this an issue that doesn't get a lot of press, but is very important for those who have been/ are going through it.
I'll be discussing diet, exercise, follow-up medical screening, etc. as well as psychological issues left, e.g. will the cancer return; effects on family, friends, work, leisure activities, etc.
If you are a survivor and interested in being interviewed for this article (and are comfortable with using your name and photo in the published piece), please drop me a line, either through this forum, or directly at farrell.writer at gmail dot com.
I'm working on a fairly tight deadline--the article will be completed on December 22/09, so please don't hesitate if you're interested!
All best,
Jenn

HI Jenn
Just saw this post, as I have been busy with work and the holidays - would love a link or heads up to the article - you are right this is an issue that generally isn't discussed publicly. Even some family like to see you doing well and expect that everything is A-OK, and sometimes the daily aches and pains, and worry are daunting for some.
Best of luck
Gail

Hi Jenn -
Just saw your posting now and have missed the deadline - but I am very interested to read this article. What publication is it - and when will it be published? Excellent topic that is shared by many survivors.

Hi Gail and Angela,
The article is currently scheduled to appear in the April 2010 issue of Alive magazine. If you're not familiar with it, Alive is a natural health magazine, available for free at most health food stores and other locations across Canada.
I was able to talk to some very interesting people with really different stories, so it should make for a good read!
All the best to you in the new year.
Jenn
